Oregon lacrosse midfielder Anna Simmons has been named the Big Ten Conference Midfielder of the Week following her performance in a 12-11 overtime win against Arizona State during the season opener.
Simmons played a key role in Oregon’s comeback, scoring three goals as part of a 6-0 run at the end of regulation. She secured the victory with her fourth goal, which came from a free-position shot with 15 seconds left in overtime.
As one of four team captains, Simmons completed two free position shots, collected five draw controls, and forced two turnovers. The game marked her 32nd consecutive start for Oregon.
“Scoring the game-winner in overtime is exactly who Anna Simmons is – tough, fearless and relentless,” head coach Jessica Drummond said. “When the moment came, I knew she would deliver. She is the grittiest, most hardworking player I have ever coached and her competitive spirit shows up when we need it most. This recognition is a reflection of the work she puts in every day.”
This is Simmons’ fourth career weekly award. Last season, she received recognition for three straight weeks and was included on the Big Ten Players to Watch list ahead of this season for the second time. In 2025, she was among seven players nationally to record over 30 goals, more than 21 ground balls, and at least 15 caused turnovers.
Oregon will travel to California for upcoming games against FDU and San Diego State on February 14 and February 16.
