Cheryl Lea Bustos, born Cheryl Lea Callahan on October 17, 1961, entered the world in Springfield, IL. Growing up in the heart of Illinois, Bustos developed a deep-rooted connection to her community. After attending Illinois College, she pursued a career in journalism, working for various newspapers and television stations. In 2012, Bustos transitioned into politics, winning a seat in the United States House of Representatives for Illinois’s 17th congressional district. Throughout her tenure, she has been a tireless advocate for issues such as healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure, prioritizing the needs of her constituents. Bustos’ commitment to public service stems from her upbringing in Springfield, where she learned the values of hard work and community engagement. Today, she continues to represent the people of Illinois with dedication and integrity, embodying the spirit of service instilled in her from an early age.
