Four members of the Oregon women’s golf team received postseason recognition from the Big Ten Conference, according to an announcement on Apr. 29. Kiara Romero and Tong An were named to the first-team all-conference list, while Sophie Han earned spots on both the second team and the inaugural all-freshman team. Darae Chung was selected as Oregon’s recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
These honors highlight individual achievements during a season in which Oregon is currently ranked No. 8 nationally. The awards also come ahead of the NCAA Regional selection show, scheduled for Wednesday at 1 p.m. Pacific Time on Golf Channel.
Romero’s selection marks her third time earning first-team all-conference status, joining Hsin-Yu Lu as one of only two players in program history with this distinction. She is currently ranked No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and leads Oregon with a career-best scoring average of 69.37, putting her on pace to break her own school record for single-season scoring average. Romero has achieved two wins this season, setting a new program record with six career individual victories.
An secured her spot on the first team after previously making second team as a freshman last year. She has played every round for Oregon this season with a personal best scoring average of 72.36 and recorded top-20 finishes in eight out of ten tournaments.
Han was recognized for both her overall performance and as part of the conference’s inaugural all-freshman group, competing in every tournament this year and maintaining a scoring average of 72.73 as a true freshman.
Chung posted a career-best scoring average while earning nine par-or-better rounds during her junior campaign and claimed her first collegiate win at an invitational event earlier in the fall.
The Ducks await their NCAA Regional assignment amid strong individual performances that have contributed to their national ranking.
