The Oregon beach volleyball team split its opening matches at the Boise State Beach Classic on April 3, securing a win against CSUN but falling to host and 20th-ranked Boise State.
The results highlight the Ducks’ ongoing season performance, with their victory over CSUN marking their 12th win of the year. The closely contested match saw all five points decided in three sets, echoing the scoreline from their previous meeting three weeks prior.
Hanna Bjornson and Sofia Taylor notched their 11th win as a pair with a narrow victory at No. 4 pairs. Gwen Fife and AJ Slojkowski added another point for Oregon at No. 2 pairs, while Landree Coats and Natasha George clinched the dual for Oregon after rallying from a set down at No. 5 pairs. The match also marked George’s 41st career victory, placing her four wins away from tying the program’s individual record.
In their second match of the day, Oregon was defeated by Boise State, which secured an early lead and clinched the dual with wins in straight sets across most pairings. Although Oregon’s No. 3 and No. 5 pairs pushed their matches to third sets, they were unable to register points against Boise State.
Looking ahead, Oregon is scheduled to face UTEP and Santa Clara on day two of the tournament. The Ducks have previously beaten UTEP this season but lost to Santa Clara during an earlier matchup.
