The Oregon Ducks women’s beach volleyball team is set to begin its 12th season at the Green Wave Invitational in New Orleans, Louisiana, on February 20-21. The tournament, hosted by Tulane University, marks the debut of new head coach Kristian Kuld.
Oregon will play three matches on Friday, starting with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 6:30 a.m. Pacific Time. The team will also face Spring Hill College and nationally ranked LSU later that day. On Saturday, the Ducks are scheduled to compete against Tulane and New Orleans.
Among this weekend’s opponents are Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, LSU, and Tulane—each of which recorded at least 20 wins last season. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi finished the previous year with a 22-13 record and was runner-up in the Southland Conference tournament. LSU ended their season at 24-13 and secured an NCAA Tournament berth as the No. 11 seed. Host school Tulane concluded last year with a 29-11 record and finished second in the Conference USA tournament.
The Ducks will be playing Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Spring Hill College for the first time in program history. They have previously faced each of their other three opponents only once before this event.
Returning players include junior Bella Gamache, senior Natasha George, and sophomore Liz Rossi—all of whom won ten matches last season. Senior Landree Coats had nine victories during that period.
George enters her final season with 33 career wins, placing her among the top ten in program history alongside fellow senior Daley McClellan, who has 24 career victories. Gamache and Coats each have accumulated 19 career wins ahead of this year’s campaign.
The roster features five newcomers: transfers Kennedy O’Donnell and Allyson van der Schaaf from Long Beach State; Elsa Snipes from Arizona State; freshman Giana Elgarico from Eugene; and Mia Komsky from Manhattan Beach, California.
