The Oregon men’s golf team finished its regular season on Apr. 15 by placing ninth out of 15 teams at the 79th Western Intercollegiate, held at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, California. The Ducks posted their best team score of the week with a 3-over-par 353 in the final round.
This result concludes Oregon’s regular season and shifts their focus to the postseason, beginning with the Big Ten Championships scheduled for May 1-3 at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Portland.
Sophomore Ramil Saelim led Oregon in the final round with a score of two-under-par 68. Aiden Krafft was the top Duck on the overall leaderboard, tying for fifteenth place after shooting a five-under-par 65 during Tuesday’s second round and finishing with a one-over-par 71 on Wednesday. Krafft secured his fifth top-20 finish this season and fourteenth of his career.
Other notable performances included Casper Nerpin and Kyreece Romero, who each shot even-par rounds of 70—their best scores of the week. Jeffrey Kwak contributed a four-over-par round of 74 to complete Oregon’s counting scores. Oscar Lent made his second eagle of the tournament while competing as an individual.
USC won the team title at thirteen under par, while Jack Buchanan from USC tied with Stanford’s Dean Greyserman for individual medalist honors at ten under par. Oregon’s lineup made four eagles over three days—tied for third-most among all teams—and recorded two hundred five pars, also third-most in the field. Krafft tied for lowest score on par-five holes at eight under par and was one of ten players to make multiple eagles during competition.
The Ducks now prepare to compete in next month’s Big Ten Championships.
