The Oregon track and field team recorded four victories and six top-10 program performances at three separate meets on April 3. Simeon Birnbaum won the invitational section of the 5,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational, while Pat Vialva and Greyson Glivinski claimed javelin titles at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, California.
These results highlight a strong showing for Oregon’s athletes as they continue their outdoor season. The team’s achievements included personal bests, new entries into school record books, and competitive finishes against national opponents.
Birnbaum clocked a personal-best time of 13:19.73 to take first place in a highly competitive field at Stanford. His final lap was completed in 56.47 seconds, making him the sixth-fastest performer in University of Oregon history for this event—the first new top-10 entry since 2021. Birnbaum also broke the meet record previously set by Ky Robinson of Stanford in 2022.
At the Triton Invitational, freshman Greyson Glivinski led a one-two finish for Oregon with a throw of 50.67 meters in women’s javelin—her season best—and was joined by fellow freshman Hayden Williams-Downing who finished second. Pat Vialva secured his win with a final-round throw of 69.57 meters to surpass Justice Miller from Iowa State.
In other notable performances, Alicia Khunou moved up to sixth place on Oregon’s all-time discus list with her throw of 56.27 meters, while Marie Josee Bovele-Linaka advanced to seventh place after throwing 55.25 meters; both achieved these marks during Friday’s competition in La Jolla.
The Ducks’ men’s distance runners also posted strong times: Evan Burke (27:57.04) and Evan Bishop (27:57.98) became just the fourth and fifth runners in program history to break the 28-minute barrier for the invitational section of the men’s 10,000 meters at Stanford.
As part of their ongoing season schedule, ticket packages are available for upcoming home events including the Oregon Team Invitational on April 18 and Oregon Twilight on May 8.
