The Oregon track and field team recorded 11 victories during the Oregon Twilight meet at Hayward Field, according to a May 9 announcement. Several athletes also achieved top-10 program performances in their respective events.
This event marks the conclusion of the Ducks’ regular season, serving as an important milestone ahead of upcoming championship competitions. The strong results reflect both individual achievements and team depth.
Simeon Birnbaum led a sweep in the Wade Bell 800 meters with a new meet record time of 1:44.67, placing him fourth on Oregon’s all-time outdoor list. Bodey Lutes finished second with a time that ranks sixth on the all-time U.S. under-20 list for the event this year, while James Harding took third with his own personal best. Benjamin Balazs won the Bill McChesney Jr. 1500 meters in a lifetime-best performance that moved him to seventh on Oregon’s all-time list for that distance.
Marie Josee Bovele-Linaka became the fourth-best performer in school history in women’s discus after her throw of 58.10 meters, improving upon her previous mark set earlier this season. Other notable winners included Silan Ayyildiz in the women’s invitational section of the 1500 meters and Hayden Williams-Downing in javelin.
The team also saw strong performances from alumni; Jaida Ross set a meet record in shot put, Ryann Porter won triple jump, and Shelby Moran established another meet record in hammer throw.
Looking ahead, postseason competition begins next weekend with participation at the Big Ten Championships from May 15 to May 17, followed by NCAA regional rounds later this month and culminating at Hayward Field for nationals June 10–13.
