The Oregon track and field team recorded five event victories and a top-10 program performance on April 17 during the opening day of the Oregon Team Invitational at Hayward Field in Eugene.

These results highlight a strong start for the Ducks, who saw standout performances across multiple disciplines. Freshman Greyson Glivinski won the javelin with a personal best throw of 51.53 meters, moving her to eighth all-time in school history for the event. Silan Ayyildiz claimed victory in the 800 meters, Dalia Frias took first place in the 1500 meters, Alicia Khunou led throughout to win shot put, and Ben Smith secured his second discus win of the season.

Glivinski’s mark surpassed her previous best from two weeks prior at another meet. She was joined by teammate Hayden Williams-Downing, who finished second in javelin. In mid-distance events, Ayyildiz made her outdoor season debut with a time of 2:05.39 to edge out professional runners Christina Aragon and Maddie Mooney. Frias achieved a new personal record in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:17.13; teammates Ella Thorsett and Ali Ince also placed among the top five finishers.

Khunou dominated shot put from her first attempt and improved further on her sixth throw to finish at 15.48 meters; freshman Taylor Wiseman placed third in that event. Smith moved into first place in discus after his third attempt measured at 57.94 meters—a lead he maintained through finals.

Other notable performances included Diana Cherotich’s runner-up finish in the women’s invitational 5,000 meters (15:43.97), as well as Dakorien Moore—making his track debut after playing football—finishing sixth in long jump behind teammate Titouan Bizet.

The meet continues with day two events starting at 3:45 p.m., including live coverage by Big Ten Network beginning at 5:30 p.m., coinciding with relay races.
