The Oregon women’s golf team is in fourth place after the opening round of the Chevron Silverado Showdown, according to an April 6 update. Junior Darae Chung led the Ducks on day one at Silverado Country Club and Resort with a score of 1-under 71.

This result places Oregon, ranked No. 5 nationally, at a total of four-over-par 292 for the first round. The University of Southern California leads the tournament at eleven under par, followed by Eastern Michigan at four under and Cincinnati at one over.

Chung recovered from early bogeys on holes four and five to finish strong, making birdies on holes nine and sixteen. Her performance marked her eighth par-or-better round this season. She will begin Tuesday’s second round trailing USC’s Catherine Park by four strokes for the individual lead.

Redshirt senior Yvonne Vinceri shot an even-par 72 while competing as an individual and not contributing to Oregon’s team score. Vinceri made six birdies during her round, including shooting three under par on the back nine. Freshman Shyla Singh finished with a one-over-par 73 after making three birdies, while sophomores Tong An and Annika Ishiyama each posted two-over-par rounds of 74.

Oregon will continue play in Napa with tee times starting at hole number one beginning at 9:30 a.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday for the second round.
