The Oregon women’s golf team will compete as the No. 2 seed at the NCAA Waco Regional, which begins Monday, May 11 at Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Texas. The Ducks, currently ranked eighth nationally, aim to secure a spot in the NCAA Championships by finishing among the top five teams after three rounds of stroke play.
This regional features a competitive field with four teams ranked in the top 25: Texas A&M (No. 4), Oregon (No. 8), Tennessee (No. 16), and SMU (No. 21). Baylor, serving as host and seeded fifth, is just outside the top rankings at No. 26.
Oregon’s lineup includes Kiara Romero (69.37 scoring average), Tong An (72.36), Sophie Han (72.73), Karen Tsuru (72.67), and Darae Chung (73.04). Shyla Singh is listed as an alternate with a scoring average of 74.14.
This appearance marks Oregon’s eighteenth consecutive trip to an NCAA Regional since their streak began in 2008—excluding only the pandemic-shortened season—and their thirtieth all-time appearance overall. The Ducks are seeking their fifth straight advancement to the national championships and fifteenth time overall reaching that stage.
Head coach Derek Radley leads Oregon into this regional after another strong season where they finished in the top five nine times out of ten tournaments and won one event—the East Lake Cup—in addition to four runner-up finishes this year.
Junior Kiara Romero stands out for her record-breaking performances; she holds six career wins—the most in program history—and was named Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Year after leading Oregon to last spring’s conference championship title.
