The Oregon women’s golf team announced on Apr. 5 that it will conclude its regular season at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, California. The tournament, co-hosted by Oregon and Colorado at the Silverado Country Club and Resort, marks the team’s twelfth appearance at this event.
The event is significant as it provides a final test before postseason play. The Ducks are currently ranked No. 5 nationally and have demonstrated consistent performance throughout the season, including a runner-up finish at their last tournament.
Oregon enters the competition as one of two top-25 teams in a field of sixteen, alongside No. 2 University of Southern California (USC). This year’s lineup for Oregon includes Sophie Han, Tong An, Darae Chung, Shyla Singh, Annika Ishiyama, and individual competitor Yvonne Vinceri. Live scoring will be available through Scoreboard Live with updates on Twitter via @OregonWGolf.
In recent history at the Silverado Showdown, Oregon has co-hosted every year since 2014 except for the canceled 2020 season due to COVID-19. The team won once in 2015 and placed second in both 2016 and 2022; last year they finished fifth.
Notably absent from this week’s lineup are juniors Kiara Romero and Karen Tsuru who recently competed at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Romero tied for fourth place there—the best-ever finish by an Oregon player—and she also extended her program record with her sixth career win during her last collegiate outing.
Romero’s achievements continue to set new standards for Oregon women’s golf: she is now ranked as the world’s top amateur women’s golfer and is recognized as a two-time first-team all-American—the first such distinction in school history.
