The Oregon women’s golf team is in fourth place at the NCAA Waco Regional after shooting an even-par 283 in the second round on May 12. The Ducks need to finish in the top five to secure a spot at the 2026 NCAA Championships.
This result keeps Oregon’s hopes alive for qualifying for their fifth consecutive appearance at the national championship and their fifteenth overall. The Ducks are three strokes ahead of Baylor and Tulsa, who are tied for fifth, and five strokes ahead of Tennessee. Southern Methodist University leads the field, followed by Texas A&M and Louisiana State University.
Junior Kiara Romero leads Oregon individually, standing one stroke off the lead at four-under par following an even-par round of 70. She has now recorded par-or-better scores in twenty out of twenty-three rounds this season and seventy times over her career’s eighty-six rounds. Romero is aiming to win her second straight individual NCAA Regional title.
The Ducks had a slow start on Tuesday, with their scorers combining for five over par on the front nine before improving over the final holes with four birdies and sixteen pars from Romero, Darae Chung, Karen Tsuru, and Sophie Han. Chung also shot an even-par 70 and sits tied for twenty-sixth overall. Han is tied for eighteenth through two rounds while Tsuru improved her score by six strokes from her opening round.
Oregon will begin Wednesday’s third and final round from hole ten starting at 6:00 a.m., seeking to maintain or improve their position within the top five teams that will advance to the NCAA Championships.
