The Oregon women’s track and field team added three national qualifiers on May 28 during the NCAA West First Rounds in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Freshmen Greyson Glivinski and Alicia Khunou qualified for the NCAA Championships in javelin and shot put, respectively, while Diana Cherotich secured her spot in the 10,000 meters.
The team also advanced five athletes to the quarterfinal round, which will take place Saturday at John McDonnell Field. The top 12 finishers from each regional site will move on to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships scheduled for June 10-13 at Hayward Field in Eugene.
Glivinski achieved a personal best of 52.63 meters on her second throw of the day in javelin, finishing eighth overall. This mark places her as the No. 4 performer in program history for Oregon. Khunou recorded a day’s best of 16.58 meters in shot put to qualify tenth overall; she is set to compete again Saturday with teammate Marie Josee Bovele-Linaka in discus.
Cherotich finished tenth with a time of 32:31.58 in the final event on Thursday’s track schedule, earning her second NCAA appearance at this distance. She is also entered to race in Saturday’s 5,000 meters event.
In other results from Thursday’s action, Aaliyah McCormick and Micaela De Mello posted identical times of 12.93 seconds to advance to Saturday’s quarterfinals of the 100-meter hurdles; De Mello’s performance improved her standing as fourth fastest all-time at Oregon for this event. Three out of four Ducks competitors advanced from their heats in the women’s 1500 meters: Silan Ayyildiz (4:12.14), Wilma Nielsen (4:13.40), and Juliet Cherubet (4:13.42).
Looking ahead, Friday’s schedule includes seventeen qualifying opportunities across eight events for Oregon men’s team members.
