Lane County - OR issued the following announcement on Mar. 3.
Residents in Douglas County are reporting that scammers impersonating Assessment and Taxation employees are showing up at homes and demanding payment for owed taxes.
Lane County Assessment & Taxation employees will NEVER demand payment in person or in cash and gift cards. They also work during normal business hours and will not knock on your door in the evenings or on weekends. Real county employees are also required to show you a valid employee ID if they do arrive at your property for another purpose.

If you believe you have been the victim of a person impersonating an Assessment & Taxation employee, please make a report to law enforcement.
