EPD volunteers create a webpage asking for the public’s help to solve cold cases

Eugene Police Volunteer Cold Case Squad detectives have posted a new website presence to aid in getting tips for Eugene cold case homicide and missing persons investigations. The EPD Cold Case Squad continues to press for justice and closure for the crime victims, their family and friends, and the Eugene community.

The cold cases described on the new EPD webpage involve Eugene homicide victims and missing persons who were members of our community.

The Eugene Police Department Cold Case Squad is staffed by volunteer, retired law enforcement officers. The team investigates cold case tips and reports to Violent Crimes Unit detectives who are officially assigned to all Eugene Police homicide and missing person cases. The goal of the team is to investigate cold cases that are often years or decades old, and have been suspended due to lack of leads or investigative resources. The department recognizes the importance of solving these cases, and continues to investigate and ask the community for help.

The public plays a crucial role in helping to solve these cases and EPD has multiple ways to contact the investigators. To remain anonymous, callers may provide information through Crime Stoppers of Oregon (linked in each of the following EPD cold case summaries). Information about the Eugene Police Department cold cases reported to Crime Stoppers of Oregon may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,500.

Information learned from social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube should be shared with investigators as these tips may lead to the identification of a suspect or suspects.
