Bold Steps Awards recognize both a large and a small Eugene-based sustainable business annually, and these awards represent a partnership between The City of Eugene, Eugene Mayor Lucy Vinis, and BRING’s Rethink Business program.
2023 Small Business Bold Steps Finalists
Threadbare Print House: a commercial textile print shop that provides knowledge and guidance to customers around the varying levels of environmental impacts, sustainability, and ethics around t-shirt manufacturing to clients and customers.
Kesh Color Lab provides vivid & blonde specialty salon hair services and sources their products from B-corp, sustainability-focused, and ethical sources.
We Refill It is allows customers to refill household cleaning and body care products by providing delivery of ecofriendly, biodegradable and toxin-free products sourced in Oregon.
2023 Large Business Bold Steps Finalists
Forrest Technical Coatings makes industrial powder coatings, solvent-based and water-based coatings, house paint, and more including FireSnake, a recycled product that salvaged 814,946 pounds of recycled fibers and isopropyl alcohol over the past year from the waste stream.
Oregon Community Credit Union which has invested in reducing water use and environmental and safety impacts for employees working within OCCU buildings.
Yellow Emperor is a manufacturer that produces dietary supplements, food, and personal care products for people and pets , and which evaluates their vendors based on efforts they make towards being more sustainable and equitable.
About the Bold Steps Award
Winning businesses receive marketing assistance including print ads and recognition from the Mayor and community members at the annual State of the City event.
The City works with a committee to select Bold Steps finalists from those nominated for this award and all finalists receive a professionally produced video highlighting their sustainability efforts.
To qualify for consideration for the Bold Steps award, businesses must be certified through the BRING Rethink Business program which offers businesses free, on-site consultation to reduce waste and save money.
