Round two of leaf season starts Tuesday | City of Eugene

Eugene residents with remaining leaves can place them curbside starting Friday, December 30. The second and final round of leaf collection and delivery season will start on Tuesday, January 3. Crews will work over the coming weeks to reach all public streets a second time.

“Despite two ice events in December, our crews were able to stay on schedule and complete the first round on time,” said Brian Richardson, Public Affairs Manager. “It’s always a balancing act to maintain the leaf schedule while responding to winter storms. We use the same crews and have to modify our equipment for each response, which takes significant time and resource.”

The second round of leaf season is expected to last until Friday, January 20. Residents throughout the city can use the holiday weekend to safely place leaves in the streets for collection.

To date public works has collected more than 8,400 cubic yards of leaves. With this year’s late leaf drop, crews anticipate round two they will collect more leaves than in a typical year.

Public works is no longer accepting requests for leaf delivery. They will use the coming weeks to deliver as many requests as possible.

Stormwater user fees help fund leaf collection and delivery. This important service helps return clean water to the river. Decaying leaves rob oxygen needed by fish in our rivers.
