On February 24, 2023, Team Springfield partners jointly signed a statement united in the rejection of antisemitism. Team Springfield partners include the City of Springfield, Willamalane Park and Recreation District, Springfield Public Schools, and Springfield Utility Board.

The joint statement reads:

Antisemitic attacks are on the rise throughout our country. Unfortunately, Springfield is not immune to these incidents. In recent weeks, antisemitic flyers have littered our community prompting an SPD investigation and community action to remove the flyers.

Springfield residents both Jewish and non-Jewish have been confronted by antisemitic messages not only on social media, but in their neighborhoods. As community leaders in Springfield, Oregon, we stand united to voice our rejection of antisemitic attacks and attempted intimidation.

We must act against hatred.

There is no room for hate speech in our community especially when it so clearly focuses on targeting an individual based on their race, ethnicity, or religion. We reject and condemn racist and antisemitic attacks – whether online or in person – and ask our community to be vigilant. If at any time you feel that you may be in danger, contact law enforcement immediately.

Hate speech does not have a place here. Ever.
