First Art in the Parks Grant Program Announces Five Recipients

Funding supports artistic and cultural events in Eugene’s city parks 

The City of Eugene’s Cultural Services and Parks and Open Spaces divisions are excited to announce five recipients of the inaugural Art in the Parks grant.

Organizations or individuals were awarded up to $5,000 to produce their own quality programming in Eugene’s parks. Dozens of applicants were reviewed this year with consideration for their programming quality, capacity, long term impacts and equity, inclusion and diversity.

The following recipients were awarded the Art in the Parks grant for 2023: 

  • Whiteaker Community Market: Cultural Celebrations
  • Eugene Juneteenth: Eugene Juneteenth Celebration
  • Asian American Council of Oregon: Asian Celebration with Obon and Taiko Festival
  • PRIDE Day Equality Project: Eugene PRIDE Festival
  • Black Cultural Initiative: Black Cultural Festival

Cultural Services provides year-around programming to promote public art and cultural events throughout Eugene. The team utilizes responsible and catalytic leadership to support the public’s vision for a thriving arts and cultural sector that contributes to the community’s social and economic well-being.

Parks and Open Spaces protects, enhances and maintains Eugene’s parks and open spaces for healthy people, community and environment. Parks and recreation in Eugene cultivate a system of beautiful, inspiring places that foster personal, community and environmental health.
